Suggest Treatment For Weight Gain And Tenderness In Breasts Post Dengue Recovery

Question: I've had a mirena IUD for over 3 years now. It had caused me minimal problems. I contracted dengue fever 2 months ago and recovery was long. However now I've had sore tender breasts, mild bloating, weight gain and some light spotting. Could this be a hormonal change due to the illness?

Brief Answer:
Not likely to be the Mirena.

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for writing to us with your health concern.
I think that these are hormonal changes most likely.
It could be because of dengue or other common factors - stress, anxiety, weight changes, unaccustomed exercise, late nights , travelling etc.
ALso, since you have been fine with the Mirena for so long, it should not cause you problems right now.
IF the spotting etc persists for too long however, please have an evaluation.
Go for an internal evaluation, Pap smear, hormonal tests ( FSH, LH, TSH, Prolactin, OGTT, DHEAS, Free testosterone, Lipid profile ).
All the best.
Please feel free to discuss further.
