Question: My son is 18 years old and has XXXXXXX Syndrome. For the past 7 days he has projectile vomiting after eating a light dinner meal. He has lost a bit of weight. It happens about an hour to 2 after dinner. His stomach hurts and then projectile. Due to his MMR the info I get from him is shaky, these are my observations. He does have a high pain tolerance. Anyway, looking at him now, hes kind of lethargic, no fever.

Brief Answer:
Multiple causes; needs workup

Detailed Answer:
Hello

My name is Dr Muhammad Ali Rauf & i will look into your problem.

I have gone through your query and would try to help you in the best possible way. There are a number of causes for projectile vomiting. Most common causes includes:
- Gastric or bowel outlet obstruction
- Delayed gastric emptying
- Raised intracranial pressure, especially if it is of sudden onset
- Poisoning
- Overeating (force feeding)

They can be ruled out on the basis of detailed history and some basic investigations like X-ray & ultrasound abdomen, eye examination, serum electrolytes & CBC. As vomiting is persistent for 7 days so i would suggest you to visit hospital so that proper workup can be carried out there.

Hope I have answered your query. If you have any further questions I will be happy to help if not then don't forget to close the discussion and rate it.
Wishing you good health !!
