Sutures On Knee Post Accident, Have Swelling On Knee And Bruising On Inner Part Of Leg That Seems To Be Spreading. Suggestions?
my husband had a push bike accident about 10 days ago he pieced the out side of the knee and needed two suttures. the knee became very swollen and the inner part of the leg around the knee the bruising kept spreading. we have had no sleep since as he is in pain every night in bed. about 5 days ago i took him to the doctors as the pain has not subsided and she felt he had an infection at the wound site and has given him 2 courses of antibiotics . the pain he says is a constant ache worse when he intially needs to move to stand or turn . if he stays very still in a comftable postion he says the pain goes but for any reason that he must move or uncomftable the leg is painful. i m not sure what else to do for him as he has a good pain tolerance and brushes things off but this time i am concerned

From the description it looks like the wound is infected. Rest, painkillers and antibiotics are the mainstay treatment. If it is not coming down with oral antibiotics you should even consider IV antibiotics and also collection of pus ( abscess) should be ruled out. If there is a collection it should be drained.
