Suggest Treatment For The Mild Protrusion Of The Collar Bone

default
Posted on Tue, 7 Apr 2015
Question: I have one side of my collarbone that is protruding and at times I feel some slight pain - not bad but just makes me aware of it. The pain goes up the neck area. Not bad but just something I have become aware of the last 30 days. I recently had my thyroid prescription reduced as my doctor said it was too strong. This was at the same time as I became aware of the collarbone situation. Could they be related?

Brief Answer:
Not likely to be due to thyroid hormone.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
The mild protrusion of the collar bone that you are feeling is not likely to be related to the higher levels of the thyroid hormone. The protrusion can be due to enlarged lymph nodes of the neck or due to muscle stiffness. You can get an ultrasound scan or MRI scan of the neck done to find out any lumps or abnormalities in the area causing the protrusion.
I hope this answers your query.
