Question: ok back in october I got this lip infection because I bit my lip too far down and I guess bacteria got in it and it blew up and got infected. It was a red mark on my lip. I was putting chapstick on it and my lips and the next day i woke up with a fat lip in the middle of my lip as well as the part i bit. The new infection had these non raised dots that and it looked like it appeared under the skin. I was flipping out cause this was spreading and i went to a doctor and she said it was a staph infection. I took clindamycin and it went away in a few days both of them. ….. a week ago i bit my lip pretty far down and it got infected in the same spot as october same thing happened it blew up had that red mark dissaperead. Now this morning the middle up my lip was fat and and those non raised dots apperead again looking exactly the same in the same exact spot as last time next to the other infection. It happened simultaneously again. Im an avid lip biter i bite my lips constantly and have my fingers in my mouth all the time cause i bite my nails. I feel like this happens when i eat my girlfriend out. Is it possible that the vagina contains enough bacteria to cause a recurring staph infection on my lip . or maybe its something else ?? Let me know what you think

Brief Answer:
Please provide more information and a photograph

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear
Lips has got more space and it can very easily swell up following injury or inflammation due to collection of fluids under the loose skin.
This can be caused by infection from girl friends vagina as well as from nail bitting.

I would like further information to help you better like
is it on both the lips
Is it associated with open ulcer or bleeding?
do you keep on nail bitting throughout the day or is it related to stress or anxiety?
Relevant medical history like any other metabolic or hormonal disease ?

If you can upload a photograph which can be helpful for better assessment of condition
you should apply antiseptic ointment with multivitamin supplements
Avoid oral sex until it heals completely
maintain good hygiene
Try to avoid nail bitting if possible
Best wishes

there is no open ulcer. This has happened to me before a couple months ago I woke up a morning after performing oral sex on my girlfriend and my lip was fat the day before i bit my lip decently far down and had a tiny tiny scab there . i woke up next morning i had fat lip and like red mark nothing else no pain no itching no nothing. I put chapstick on it thinking it would help and i woke up the next morning and i had another fat lip in the middle of my lip where i was using the chapstick and there was these bumps that were under my skin not blisters i don't even wanna call them bumps cause they were literally completely not raised an under my skin. my doctor prescribed clindamycin and it went away.
Now months later i bit my lip same spot deep ,same red cut appeared then disappeared in about 3 days. No discomfort no warning. Now a week later from then i was peforming oral sex on my gf and next morning i had my middle lip blown up and those under skin looking dots, after a few hours today the swelling is gone and the marks are completely less noticeable now, almost gone. How weird to get the same spot right after one another again after performing oral on my girlfriend, what i was thinking since my lips are always chapped I'm picking up this bacteria in her vagina thats inflammating my lip. I feel like it look and feels absolutely nothing like cold sores. They came in a day with no warning have no discomfort or feeling and this one almost disappeared already, and for the fact that you can't contract cold sores more than once, like i can't contract hsv1 every time i go down on my girlfriend. It just has me freaked out, could it be a recurring staph or a different bacterial infection I don't know

the picture i sent is what it looked like this morning, now you can barely even see it unless i put a flashlight on it. Let me know what you think asap

Brief Answer:
This could be recurrent herpes or viral infection

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for your reply
Looking at your detailed description and photographs. This could be recurrent herpes or viral infection
Another possibility is allergy or injury leading to inflammation of the lips

As your photo showes there are 2 white shores/ blisters in the middle of the Lowe lip suggestive of viral infection.

Since I can't physically examine you to get more clues so I would advise you to consult a dermatologist for detailed check up and a course of antibiotics/antivirals like acyclovir.

There are equal chances of contracting HSV every time you do oral seX, if you have a recurrent problem

Hope this answers your question
please abstain from oral sec until it heals completely
Best wishes

i really just don't think it is. Im looking up cold sores and it really just looks and feels nothing like one. Those 2 bumps are not blisters. They're not raised and literally appear and under the skin. No oozing no discharge no discomfort no itch no pain , it doesn't even feel there. Its already basically disappeared in just hours. I can't even see it anymore unless i put a flashlight on it an even then its hard. I feel thats just not symptoms of a cold sore, especially since one of these infections appeared after a deep lip biting incident. do you think the initial diagnosis of a staph infection is wrong , or do you think its a bacterial infection or definitely a cold sore.

Brief Answer:
chances of staph infection is less likely

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for your reply
Staph infection generally presents as swelling, pain, warmth or blisters and it so in my opinion chances of staph infection is less likely

This might have developed due to tooth biting trauma or allergic reaction
Another possibility is viral infection which you might have contacted during oral sex.

I would advise you to follow these guidelines
You should do gargling with antiseptic mouth wash or warm saline water
Avoid smoking or alcohol
Try to avoid spicy and junk food and lip bitting.
Maintain good hygiene,
you should take multivitamins and vitamin C for rapid recovery and healing

Hope this answers your question
Please feel free to ask if anything is not clear
Best wishes
