Suggest Treatment For Stress Eczema

Question: Hello Doctor, I am 65 a wife,mother and grandma in pretty good health..however 2 weeks ago raised itchy bumps appeared on sides of fingers and in between.Went to Dr. twice and was prescribed Elecon and sudocrem x3 daily. Was told it was stress excema.. I am not stressed....Well maybe a little, as caring full time for 10yr boy & girl twin Grandkids... last week spread to palms and wrists..hands feel tight and are scaly also with same bumps..I wear cotton gloves as much as possible especially at night as itch is worse ..I am concerned that it may be contagious .Thankyou for your advice

Brief Answer: ........ Detailed Answer: Hi there.... Thanks for writing in. Since you have already been evaluated and clinically examined by your doctor and diagnosed as stress eczema..don't worry. It might not be contagious. The medication prescribed are appropriate to treat stress eczema.(topical steroids and a healing antiseptic). Please try to do the following. Avoid prolonged contact with water. Avoid using harsh soaps and detergents. Try to remember the trigger or aggravating factors and avoid those.
