Brief Answer:
sore throat

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for contacting HCM with your health care concerns

I am sorry to hear that you have a sore throat and that is feels like it is swelling. This could be as simple as a bacterial or viral infection. This would be treated with analgesics like you already have started. Accompanying this would be additional symptoms like fever chills nasal congestion and cough.

Another possibility is gastroesophageal reflux disease or GERD. If you get frequent heart burn acid is traveling up the esophagus and causing burning of the esophagus. This can make the throat feel swollen and cause difficulty swallowing food. You can treat this with antacids, zantac or prilosec.

If your symptoms worsen you may need to see a medical provider to examine you and decide what if any treatment is needed.
