Brief Answer: please start sertraline with clonazepam Detailed Answer: Hello, Your doctor is very right in not continuing xanax. At your age it may be dangerous to take xanax like this. Though that helped you but it might have been one of the reasons that the illness never got cured. Xanax gives rebound anxiety and is not a med to treat anxiety disoder or panic disorder. It is best used for short term use. Moreover you should have seen psychiatrist in initial stage of illness and this thing would have solved by now. It is better that you take a proper anti anxiety meds now and finally get rid of xanax. Meds like paroxetine, sertraline will be suitable for you and wil help you a lot. For acute panic attacks clonazepam 0.25mg is effective in aborting the attack. So, please discuss this these meds with your doctor. Im sure you will get well with them. Panic attacks will stop and the new symptoms will be controlled. You will get back your normal life once again. Wish you good luck. Do ask more questions for clarifictaion.
