Posted on Tue, 13 Dec 2016
Question: Heterogeneous uterus, no discrete fibroids was the result of an ultrasound but I can feel something in my uterus (or by the area) and it is painful. The ultrasound test was very painful, but they don't find anything. I can't have sex because is too painful.

Brief Answer:
Can be pelvic inflammation.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for trusting us with your health concern.
Fibroids are usually painless. If you can feel something in the area and sex is painful then it can be due to a pelvic inflammation. It is better to get yourself physically examined by a gynecologist and get suitable antibiotics prescribed for it. Any intestinal distension also needs to be ruled out due to constipation. Any mass can be better ruled out by an MRI scan.
Please feel free to discuss further. I will be glad to answer the follow up queries that you have.
Wishing you good health.

Thank you doctor. How dangerous can an MRI scan be? Can I have a mass be discovered through the MRI? I feel like I have a "mass" in the pelvic area, I can feel it when I crouch down to pick something from the floor. Thanks again.

Brief Answer:
MRI scan is safe.

Detailed Answer:
Hello.
Thanks for writing again.
MRI scan is a safe investigation. It will help in detecting any abnormal mass larger than 2 cm.
Hope my answer is helpful.
