default
Posted on Tue, 24 Mar 2015
Question: I have ddd in my neck. Have had various treatments, PT, Chiropractic, and I have been treated in a pain control center. Have had epidurals x2. Nothing has helped. I take very few insaids d/t having had a minor stroke. I am 83 and have been very active until now. The pain has decreased my function. The Dr ordered amitriptyline 10mg HS which helps with sleep, but not with the pain. What is recommended for me ?

Brief Answer:
neurotropic like pregabalin in high dose can be started consulting your doc

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thanks for your query,
Due to your ddd neck there can be large disc bulge leading to nerve compression.
Due to compression of nerve root there can be pain.

I will advise you to do MRI spine to see for level and severity of disc bulge.
If Tryptomer is not helping then neurotropic like pregabalin in high dose can be started consulting your doctor.

As you have already taken epidural and PT so I will advise acupuncture. This may help you.

If no relief then surgical decompression may help. But you need to consider your age and probable complication of decompression.

Hope this answers your query. If you have additional questions or follow up queries then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your queries.

Wishing you good health.

Take care.
