Suggest Treatment For Itchy Rash On Left Wrist

default
Posted on Wed, 31 Dec 2014
Question: I have developed a circular red spot, about the size of a dime on my left wrist that keeps getting larger and does not seem to be healing. I am not sure what this could be as i have never seen anything like this before on myself. It started like a bite of some sort with two tiny pricks in the center and has started growing larger daily. It is circular and seems to have like an outer ring around it. Can you give me some sort of idea as to what this may be.

Brief Answer:
Does it itch?

Detailed Answer:
Hi and than you so much for this query.

The description of your symptoms is suggestive of a possible fungal infection. Did this rash itch?

I will recommend that you apply an antifungal agent such as clotrimazole or miconazole cream twice daily for a week. This should normally get the problem resolve. Follow up with me and report progress. Should there be any further concerns, we may want to do more testing but that is not really necessary for the moment.

I hope this helps. I wish you well. Thank you so much for using our services and do feel free to ask for more information and clarifications if need be.

Brief Answer:
I suggest you go with the proposed treatment!

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Fungi is present in the atmosphere and can cause and infection. What I suggest is you go on with this treatment. If within 5days we don't notice a remarkable improvement, only then would I want to consider any other possible causes. Fungal rash starts small, grows in a circular fashion, the middle gets clearer while the borders show active expansion. This seems typical of what you have at this time. Fungal infection is not an allergy and I am not leaning on that at this time. Allergies wouldn't grow and like you mentioned, you have not used anything new.

Keep me posted once you start the drugs. I wish you well.
