Question: Hello ,

I am currently 26 year old . I am of 5.2 inch tall with 53 kg weight .
I am facing irregular periods pblm for the past one year, earlier to that i was getting regular period. I switch to new work environment last year so i thought that could be a reason for it . i was prescribed to take meprate by jan2016 and i got my periods , then i was suggested a pill to regularize my period for next 4 months. I didnt wanted to take hormonal tabs for long time so after 4 months i switched to ayurvedic treatment , i was taking ayurvedic medicine for 3 months (started ayurvedic treatment from july end , and stopped the treatment by nov2016 )inbetween a month gap was there as my ayurvedic doc went out of country . i got very very mild stomach pain at in dec 2016 but never got periods after i stopped hormonal tablets , i mean during the ayurvedic treatment, doctor said the pco - cyst is very very small and so i no need to worry on delayed periods which will get cure soon. Since i didnt get any periods during the medication till dec (My period was completely absent for 6months plus). JAN2017 i went allopathy doctor again and she suggested "sysron-N" for 10 days. after i done with tablet , in a week i got spotting but not like periods. Then doc suggested me to take scan , To my XXXXXXX the report came normal and there was no PCO at all .. my ovaries were normal.. earlier (a year before it was enlarged due to multiple cysts).. hence doc said i will get periods as it got cured. we waited for a month in feb , but didnt get period though report came normal .

I was then suggested Meprate by march 2017 since i didnt get period in feb 2017 though no cysts there as well as ovaries were normal in scan . I took meprate for 10 days . But no effect even after 3 +weeks , i didnt get periods though i had all symptoms of getting period .

doc took scan again and she said still mild pco is there adn suggested Loette 21 white tablet now i am done with it. Looking forward to periods.

I am literally worried why these all happens to me. i want get over this periods issue. will loette bring my periods back. i want to solve this issue before marriage as i dont want to face any issue in getting pregnant after marriage.

Please kindly assist me.since periods were absent for long time i am worried.

Brief Answer:
Needs proper investigations to find cause.

Detailed Answer:

Hello,
Thanks for trusting us with your health concern. There could be many causes for this clinical picture but most probable diagnosis is Polycystic ovarian disease (PCOD).

In this disease, there is hormonal disturbance which causes ovarian troubles and hence menstrual disturbance, high chance of diabetes, gaining weight, infertility as well.

You needs to get an Ultrasound of ovaries and other pelvic organs. In PCOD there will be few or multiple follicular cysts seen. Also hormonal tests of FSH, LH, Estrogen, Progesterone, Androstenedione, Thyroid hormones will be needed.

Once confirmed as PCOD, the treatment is mainly medical treatment with Oral contraceptive pills for some time will your menstrual cycles become regular. But most important is exercising to becoming fit. If exercise is not done then the hormonal imbalance will still be there. Proper diet consisting of low carbohydrates, low fat diet with plenty of fresh fruits and green leafy vegetables. Drink plenty of water. Do daily brisk walking for 40 minutes. Avoid junk food, pastries, colas.

Kindly show to a leading Gynecologist and get her examined completely and also get the tests done as mentioned above. Once diagnosis is confirmed by ultrasound and hormones tests, the treatment can begin, but as I mentioned again, diet and exercise are the most important for cure and not just the medication alone.

Please feel free to discuss further. I will be glad to answer the follow up queries that you have.
Wishing you good health.
