Suggest Treatment For Bump Rashes On Face

Posted on Fri, 1 May 2015
Question: My fourteen year old daughter just got a rash on her face, right on her cheeks. Its pinkish and a little bumpy.
It appeared yesterday afternoon and when she awoke this morning it was still there. No different shampoo
or detergent or lotions. What could it be? She is a healthy young lady. She did have a softball game sunday
evening and wears a catchers's mask.

Brief Answer:
I could be allergic dermatitis

Detailed Answer:
Hello

Thanks for the query

Pinkish and bumpy rash is suggestive of dermatitis. This can be allergic(due to exposure to allergen or due to contact with an irritant like nickel or other material sensitive to skin),infective(seborrheic dermatitis/bacterial) or photo dermatitis(exposure to sunlight).
As the site involved is face I would like to rule out allergic and photo dermatitis. There is a history of use of catcher's mask that may act as irritant.
The dermatological disorder are best judged by direct visualisation.
I request you to upload a picture so that I could better help you out.
Bacitracin is an antibiotic ointment and is mainly used in case of bacterial infection.
The main aim of management is oral antiallergic and mild topical steroid. The lesions usually subside within a week.If it is recurrent or associated with some other symptoms systemic causes like SLE should be ruled out.
I shall be glad to answer any further query
Regards
