Suggest Treatment For ADHD And Depression
Question: Hi, I have custody of my 14 yr. old grandson. He has severe ADHD and was born with Hydronephrosis. He is on Vyvanse 30 mg daily which seems to have good and bad side effects, He has been verbally aggressive in school and having trouble with assimilating into his new High School. He feels depressed and has suicidal thoughts at times I just found out yesterday. I am getting him evaluated on the 28th this month. My question is do you think maybe Buspar would help his anxiety? Thanks

Buspar would not be my first choice for him. The ideal treatment for anxiety is with an SSRI medication such as sertraline or escitalopram. These drugs also treat depression, which would be especially beneficial for your grandson. So I would ask about one of these medications first.
