Question: Dear Dr,
I was pregnant as 7 weeks old, then I got abortion pill on 7 October. I had bleeding and cramping a weak. Then I had a follow up yesterday 15 October and the nurse told me that I still have some clots and need to get the pill again?
I am so worry to do it again since I don't have bleeding now?
What can I do, help me please since I don't like to do surgical or redo the pill again. I think the clots will pass throw when I get my next period.
What do you think,
Thanks in advance

Brief Answer:
Get an ultrasound scan to confirm.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for trusting us with your health concern.
If there is no bleeding right now and there are only minor clots in the uterine cavity then these can pass out on their own by your next cycle.
Just go for an ultrasound scan and confirm that the placenta and the products of conceptus have been expelled. Minor clots usually do not cause a problem.
Please feel free to discuss further. I will be glad to answer the follow up queries that you have.
Wishing you good health.

Thanks Dr.

What the reason to get an ultrasound scan to confirm?
I already did ultrasound internal , and the nurse said you have some clots??, then gave me the pill again as I told you.

So, I feel fine and my pregnancy symptoms stop and no sign for me that I am sick.

The nurse wants me to get the pill again and give me a follow up after 2 weeks. She said we will do for you ultrasound again and pregnancy test to see, then if clots not pass throw I will have surgical.

Sorry for along details but I am really worried about the best way to be safe.

My question, do you recommend to do ultrasound in the same center or find doctor else? and what the reason to get this ultrasound when I go to the doctor. When I need to get the abortion pill agin, is the some clots need to get the pill?
Let me clear steps when I need to get the pill again and do surgical?

Thanks so much.

Brief Answer:
If irregular bleeding persists then treatment need

Detailed Answer:
Hello.
Thanks for writing again.
If you already had an internal ultrasound scan after the pills then it needs to be confirmed if there are only clots or retained products also inside the uterus.
If there are retained products lefty inside then repeat pills may be needed but it can cause menstrual irregularities and prolonged bleeding.
If there is no bleeding right now then you can also wait fro the spontaneous bleeding to start and in case the bleeding is severe then consult a gynecologist for proper treatment.
Another way is to have a second opinion and a repeat ultrasound scan. Surgical D&C is not usually needed in pregnancy less than 7 weeks.
Hope my answer is helpful.

Brief Answer:
It is normal.

Detailed Answer:
Hello.
The dark brown spots are suggestive of old blood that is retained inside the uterine cavity. It is normal and is not worrisome.
