Question: Hi, I got bit by my dog about 3 weeks ago. On my right middle finger between middle knuckle and knuckle . The wound is healed but, there is a swollen area on inside of the finger where the worst damage was done. It appears to be a lump. The finger stiffens up and is painful to bend. It is still quite swollen. What do I do?

Brief Answer:
It could be Haematoma or Soft tissue edema.

Detailed Answer:
Hi
I saw the pics.
First possibility is Soft tissue edema which may occur after trauma. I prescribe Tablet containing Trypsin & Chymotrypsin along with anti inflammatory tablet to my patients with similar complaints. Results were very good.
Next possibility is Haematoma, collection of blood.
It will be resolved in course of time. If the infection is added, pain will be present.
Hence, I prefer to give Antibiotic like Clindamycin capsule along with anti inflammatory tablet and Tablet containing Trypsin & Chymotrypsin.
Ultrasound of the affected area will confirm the diagnosis.

Hope I answered your query. If you have any questions, I will clarify further.
Nothing to worry. It will come down.
Wish you good health and speedy recovery.
Regards
