Suggest Remedy For Persistent Pain In Hand

default
Posted on Thu, 5 Nov 2015
Question: I have been experiencing chronic although not constant pain on the outside (top) right half of my right hand. It becomes especially painful and almost frozen after I hold the phone up to my ear. (I am not a chronic phone user). when I finish a phone call, I literally have to use my left hand to pull my right hand out of the holding position. I am 56, female, office manager. This has been going on for probably 3 years and the symptoms are getting more severe.

Brief Answer:
A nerve related cause likely.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
The constant pain on the outer half of the right hand is likely to be due to a nerve related issue. There can be a minor nerve compression causing these symptoms. For proper diagnosis you need to consult a neurologist and get a nerve conduction study done after a proper physical examination.
Till then you can start taking methylcobalaimn supplements and see if it helps.
I hope this answers your query.

Could this be a side effect of the medication I am currently taking (and have been for 8+ years? I take Fluoxetine 10mg/day and Humira (self injected) 40 mg 2x a month for psoriasis.

Thank you.

Brief Answer:
Not likely to be a side effect.

Detailed Answer:
Hello.
Thanks for writing again.
This is not likely to be due to the medicines that you are taking. It is more likely to be related to a nerve compression.
Hope my answer is helpful.
