Brief Answer:
most likely viral infection

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thanks for your comments,
Sore throat can be caused by cold viruses or other things like strep. With a strep throat you almost never have a cough so since you are coughing it is most likely viral. Headaches can come from slight dehydration so make sure you are drinking plenty of fluids. You can use over the counter cough medicine and lozenges to help your cough and ibuprofen or acetaminophen for the sore throat. Chloraseptic spray also works good to numb up the throat if it is very sore.
If you develop shortness of breath, wheezing or high fevers you should see a doctor right away. Otherwise do the things above to treat symptoms and rest for a few days. Hopefully you will be better soon,
Dr. Robinson
