Suggest Remedies For Irregular Menstrual Bleeding

default
Posted on Thu, 17 Nov 2016
Question: hi, I had irregular periods, below is my period history,

1st 2 years of period - 2 months once and bleeding used to be there for 4 days

2nd - 9 years - irregular periods, once in a while it used to be regular but mostly irregular. bleeding used to be there for more than 20 days and I had to take tablets to stop bleeding but the bleeding was not very heavy( not sure if I had not taken tables it used to stop or not). that is when I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism.

10 to12 years - normal period every 28 days

now I missed my period and realized my thyroid levels have gone high SO doctor increased dosage.

but I'm worried was there any other reason which is causing long periods - I found lot of worrying stuff in internet for prolonged periods. I have done pelvis ultrasound 5 days back- reports are completely normal.

all doctors say there is nothing to worry it was due to either hypothyroidism or hormonal imbalance. just wanted to cross check

Hello
Thanks for trusting us with your health concern.
If your ultrasound scan is normal, chances of any major pathology are ruled out.
Apart from thyroid tests , certain other tests need to be done to rule out conditions such as polycystic ovarian syndrome.
These include - FSH, LH, Prolactin, OGTT, DHEAS, Free testosterone, Lipid Profile.
All the best.
Please feel free to discuss further.
