Brief answer..she would need hearing aid
Detailed answer....
Hello,
Thanks for the query.
I have read your query and understand the problem being faced by your mother.
Basically speaking there is no one single cause which results in deterioration of hearing.
In general it is caused by changes in your inner ear which occur as a person grows older.
Other factors like loud noise, smoking, diabetes, family history may contribute towards hearing loss.
In general there is no treatment for such hearing loss which tends to get worse as you age and ends up in deafness but patient can definitely be managed.
Treatment lies in....
Thorough examination by an ENT for otoscopy and hearing tests
Use of hearing aids
Sometimes a cochlear implant can also be surgically put which can help the person to an extent.
I advise you to consult an ENT and get the needful done.
I hope it helps, however you are most welcome to revert to me for any further query.
Thanks
