Posted on Mon, 2 Jun 2014
Question: My "girlfriend" told me that she had a cervical surgery and denied me sex. As she is only a normal sex girlfriend and I don't wish to ask more into the details.

However I would like to consult professional opinion on what kinds of cervical surgery need to rest for a very long while before she is able to have sex again.

Can list me some of the most common cervical surgery which need to refrain from sex so that I know she is not actually lying to me. ..

Brief Answer:
Sad questions to need an answer.

Detailed Answer:
It is not a doctors job to judge, yet I will tell you it made me quite sad that you know this girl well enough to have sex with her but not well enough to be concerned with her health-only with the possibility that she is lying to you.
Cervical cancer is a preventable disease if persistent high-grade dysplastic changes of the cervix ( found on a Pap smear )are treated aggressively.
Cervical conization is removal of the transitions in between the inside and outside of the mouth of the womb where precancerous cellular changes occur. It can take 4 to 6 weeks for this area to heal completely. I also advise my patient to use condoms for all encounters for a full six months following cervical conization as this is the time that their body is mounting the maximum immune response to prevent abnormal cell growth in the future.
This is the most common cervical procedure that takes a long time to heal. I hope this answers your question.
