Brief Answer: Investigations and Trichologist Opinion. Detailed Answer: Dear XXXXXXX Thanks for reverting back with your consideration. 1.Since you are taking Asthalin [salbutamol]Rotacaps whenever the attack occurs which means you are using medicine in bronchodilator form [which are the fastest bronchodilators when inhaled], thus use of steroid is out of question [because use of steroid is associated with hair loss]. 2.Since you are using it in between attacks make sure you & your attending Physician have ruled out other medical issues like diabetes, high blood pressure, overactive thyroid, heart problems, and potassium level in your blood. [people with high blood pressure and high cholesterol level taking the said drug have reported hair loss, so make sure you have these values under normal] 3.Again if the laboratory investigations come normal you need to consult a Trichologist first for your hair loss to rule out any other pathology, in the mean time you can follow these guidelines: i. diet as mentioned earlier. ii. Make a paste of Hasti dant masi [available with grocery shops] and rasont [concentrated extract of berberis species] in goat’s milk and apply on scalp. . Apply bhringraj oil on head. . fruit of amla:2, baheda fruit: 1, harad fruit: 2, pulp of mango seed:5, old mandur: 10gm: take all these contents and after mixing them put them overnight in an iron pan and apply on scalp the next morning. 4.For Asthma I usually recommend following guidelines to my patients on the basis of “प्राणवह स्रोतस व्याधि ” [PRANVAHA SROTAS VYADHI] .In the acute phase, the goal of the treatment is to relieve the distress in breathing. In the later phase, steps are to be taken to eradicate the disease. .If Attacks are frequent inspite of inhaled bronchodilator combination; use mast cell stabilizer. [talk with your attending Doctor regarding this]. .Asthma is a psycho somatic disorder; so tranquility of mind is very important as part of treatment (Brahmi vati+sarpagandha Ghana vati at bed time with milk) .Deep breathing exercises. They help increase lung capacity and also create awareness of the lungs and breathing process. . For repeated attacks, change of weather i.e. advise holiday in a dry climate .Avoid deep fried foods. .Avoid too cold foods .Avoid sour foods(non fresh curd, sour lassi, srikhand, raw onions) .Avoid sour fruits(Citrus:lemon, orange, mosambi) .Take a glass of warm water early morning, take warm drinks often like tea, coffee, soups .For Breakfast and snacks: bread sandwiches, idli, corn flakes, biscuits, sweet fruits like XXXXXXX mango, papaya and dry fruits .For meals: roti, chapati, palak, methi, cabbage, salads(beet, carrot, cucumber) .Cooking should use minimum oils. .Avoid heavy meals, eat small frequent meals and take early dinner .Avoid sleep for at least 2hrs after meals. .keep bowel movement regularly .mix powdered salt and karpoor in warm ghee and massage between the shoulder blades. . medicine for the same can be couriered [at your discretion] PS. .Since Onions are high on sulphur content, thus juice of onions is capable of stimulating hair growth as sulphur helps in increasing blood circulation. .either use onion singly or as onion-honey or onion –rum concoction.
