Suggest An Effective Way For A 36 Year Old To Conceive

default
Posted on Wed, 29 Oct 2014
Question: I am 36 years old and got married 8 months back. I am posted away from my husband and try to be with him during my fertile period every month. I have not conceived so far inspite of our willingness from day one. However over past couple of months there are instances of spotting around ten days prior to my due menstrual date which I considered as implantation bleeding but later it was followed by regular periods. What should I do. Am I close to menopause?

Brief Answer:
COMPLETE EVALUATION IS NECESSARY.

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for writing to us with your health concern.
The spotting could be due to ovulation also.
At 36, menopause is less likely but you should have an evaluation.
First and foremost, you should have hormonal evaluation for the cause of spotting.
On day 2 of your cycle, please have following tests -
Complete blood count, viral markers, AMH, FSH, LH, TSH, Prolactin.
Next, have semen analysis for your husband.
Go for 3 - 6 cycles of follicular monitoring, here the growth of egg follicle is observed by ultrasound scan done serially during the cycle, and ovulation is pinpointed.
If you do not conceive inspite of such cycles, go for a laparoscopy to check if fallopian tubes are patent or not.
Take regular folic acid supplements.
Exercise daily ( what is your height and weight ? )
Please stay with your husband and maximize the frequency of sexual contact particularly around the time of ovulation
All the best
Please feel free to discuss further.
