Brief Answer: Palliative Aspect Detailed Answer: Dear XXXXXXX Thanks for contacting Ayurveda with your health concern and since case is diagnosed, following points are worth mentioning 1. since disease is autoimmune in nature thus there will be increased LATS [long acting thyroid stimulating] in the form of IgG [a form of gamma globulins] in the serum which means that it will take step wise treatment [from palliative to purification] therapy to ERADICATE the disease. 2. since there is no replacement of hormone in any -pathy thus hormone has to be taken till symptoms are under control [because condition is auto immune] 3. ARE symptoms predominantly i. nervous system related: excess sweating, weight loss, irritability, insomnia, tremors of hand [primary hyperthyroidism] ii. or related with cardiovascular system: palpitations, breathlessness, chest pain [secondary hyperthyroidism]?? 4. let me know the name of the Ayurveda medicine(s) for further analysis of management and observation. 5. "Bharmari" Pranayam is the choice of Yoga for thyroid patients along with XXXXXXX Namaskar 6. as entire history was not taken, please provide with following data for further evaluation: . Occupation: thyroid disorder appear in individual working under stress and strain?? . Residence: endemic goitre area?? . Pressure effects on neck: change in voice or difficulty in swallowing?? . Dietary habits: vegetables of brassica family [cabbage XXXXXXX rape] are goitrogens??? . family history?? 7. along with Ayurveda Medicines [Rasayan Chikitsa]and Dietary Regime I usually Advice my patient(s) to take the following . seeds of apamarg to be mixed with buffalo milk and taken as "kheer" [rice pudding] . give XXXXXXX churan along with milk. PS. since Yoga practice result in faster metabolism [which is already high in hyperthyroidism] make sure kapalbhati is slowed down, and include Sarvanghasana, Halasana,Dhanurasana. [earn and practice under the guidance of an experienced yoga teacher to deepen yoga practice]. Please revert back with your concerns Dr. Munish Sood Consultant & Physician Naimittika Clinic.

A. thanks you doctor for ur kind advice.U asked about the symptons vizTremors and weight loss : well they have disappeard long back when i started with allopathy medicine. But yes sleeping difficulty is still there.i mean after sleeping for long hours i feel i hav slept insufficiently. These days i m getting good sleep especially after the ayurveda medicine hav started.Irregular heartbeat is still there esp in the stress condition. B.Medicine my ayurveda doctor has suggested are : 1.Kumaryasavam: 4 caps twice 2.Pathyaksha dhatryadi kashyam :2 caps twice.3. triphala guggal: 1 pill twice and 4. Netraamritam(eye drop soince i have protruding eye ball to some extent.the eye balls were very protruding befor my allopathy course but the went in side to about 100% for bottom and about 40-50 from top.recently after my TSH level showed the sudden improvemt, the sideways fat from eye has reduced from top. i is showing the hole in that part.even my endocrinologist was shocked to see the change.i was doin regularly sarvangasan, halasana, matsyasan, kapalbhti, and ujjayi pranayama along with other head to legs yoga excercises. C. About my life style : i would say it has been very stressful since last eight to nine years.May be coz my family conditions wasnt promising especially after my father passed away when i was 16 years old. There was a performance pressure at academic front.May coz of the Fear/phobia of failure within me.i had this thruout my Engg and MBA.and some part of time when i was there at my job. D.i havent noted any change in voice or any swalllowing difficulty. E.Food: I have been nice child since my childhood days.i have eaten every kind of vegetables be it cabage, bhindi cauliflower or anthing. But yes until now recently have noted that iodine content is more in these had to ask like wat shud be taken and wat shud be not? F. I dont have any family history of anyone having thyroid problem. G. docotor U said i shud hav milk. But i have doubt. i have heard from many hyperthyroidism pateint that food like milk, gluten, white flour, caffeine, refined food, soda, fruits etc worsen the condition of autoimmune disease since they trigger the antibodies in the body.So kindly help me out in case of milk: whether it shud be taken or not in case of vegetables? H. Another thing i wud like to ask is: will meditaion help me to overcome my ailments ? i have registered for vipassana course for this december.i heard it helps to overcome one fears and stress etc. I. I m have had many side effect owimg to thyroid tablets: recently i had calcium loss in my knees so i was put in the medication for that.Cud u suggest me any ayurveda medicine ofr the same? J. apart form the ayurveda medicne wud like like to suggest any another therapies like Panch-karma treatment etc ,coz i hav heard it relaxes and detoxifies the body?

Brief Answer: Dietary Regime and Treatment Aspects Detailed Answer: Dear XXXXXXX Thanks for reverting back with your clarifications and following are the recommended guidelines for you A.Take: 1.rice pudding [kheer], krishra [ til, malai mixed urad ki khichadi], varities of jaggery [sugar, mishri, guda], if non vegetarian [fish living in standing water can be eaten], 2.Fruits from which oil is extracted like [til, sarso, badam], take these fruits and crush them on kitchen floor and mix with warm water, add sugar and take [eat] twice daily. PS. In nut shell whichever food is sweet, heavy, fatty consume it and thereafter day sleeping is beneficial for the disease. Even if the food causes indigestion, still consume the same because although intake of food is inhibited during Indigestion in Ayurveda but this disease is one exception. B.Avoid 1.salt, grocery milk, broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, Brussels’ sprouts, turnips, mustard greens, XXXXXXX soybeans, cassava root, millet, nuts [any], pistachios, dates, strawberries, mango, apples, apricots, pineapple, packaged food products that contain hydrogenated vegetable oils. 2.Replace refined flour with whole grain food items: wheat bread, whole grain bread, brown rice, barley and other whole grain products. However, do not forget to consult your dietitian before making any major dietary changes in your daily diet. PS. Avoid fluoride which is mostly found in the toothpaste and chlorine which is found in the tap water. C.Avoid milk [grocery], and replace it with women milk [if possible] D.Since stress is believed to be one of the major factors for thyroid disorders, meditation keeps the mind calm and relaxed and reduces everyday stress. Since ‘Vipassana’ is a relaxation technique which pacifies hyperactivity [like HYPERthyroidism] thus will be beneficial for the said ailment. [You may try Panchakosha and XXXXXXX Om meditations from a trained Yoga teacher] E.Since hyperthyroidism cause loss of calcium thus it is effect of the disease, thus prescription drug “mukta vati” along with women milk, coral oxide with ashwagandharishta . F. Panchkarma suggestion which I usually Advice to my patient is/are: Takra dhara and Vaman but should be adopted after consulting your attending Physician. Dr. Munish sood Naimittika
