Is Meclizine Advisable To Treat Dizziness?

default
Posted on Fri, 30 Jun 2017
Question: I have meclizine in the medicine cabinet that was prescribed 8 years ago for vertigo. I am feeling very slightly dizzy this morning and wondering if it is safe to take the old meclizine. It has been tightly capped all this time.

Brief Answer:
It may be less active.

Detailed Answer:
Hello!

Thank you for the query.

The professional answer is now, it is not safe. But more rational thought says that every medicine has to have best before date. What happens after that date? Well, some part of chemical substance can become inactive. So you may find such medicine less effective. But it wont be harmful.

Hope this helps.
Regards.
