Suggest Treatment For Symptoms Of Oral Thrush

Question: I have had rounds of Yeast infections that flair up since my hysterectomy 1.5 years ago. It started when I had thrush mouth 3 days following the surgery I think due to the large dose of Cipro I got prior to surgery. Well the swish stuff helped but after two doses I landed in ER due to allergic rash all over my face and neck. Cipro or the mouth rinse, we don't know. Well I had a yeast episode again and for the last week my mouth is so sore, white patches developing on jaw, tongue very sore and rough and white and I have white deposits in corners of my mouth. It feels as if I have been sucking on a cotton ball my mouth is dry and sticky. Is this thrush and what can I do to fix it. I am drinking 6-8 oz of Kefir but it is really not helping anymore.

Brief Answer:
Yeast infection likely.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for trusting us with your health concern.
The symptoms that you have described are likely to be due to thrush. You need to consult a dentist and get a systemic antibiotic prescribed. Oral hygiene is of great importance in treating and preventing periodontal disease and you should brush twice daily and floss your teeth.

Also try restricting sugar as it is is known to significantly increase plaque accumulation by feeding the bacteria that cause the infection while decreasing white blood cell function. Fresh fruits, and vegetables, whole grains, and fiber should be taken and take plenty of sardines, canned salmon, dark green leafy vegetables (spinach, collards, XXXXXXX turnip greens, mustard mustard greens) broccoli, brazil nuts, tofu and all soy products, sunflower seeds.
. You can also use mouth washes containing chlorhexidine or hydrogen peroxide. You can get them prescribed from your dentist. You need to get oral antifungal agents prescribed for cure.
Please feel free to discuss further. I will be glad to answer the follow up queries that you have.
Wishing you good health.
