Posted on Thu, 10 Apr 2014
Question: Hi sir, I am XXXXXXX I am a bit confused about what's going on with me, though I know how HIV spreads. Here are some situations I would like to take you through. 1. I am Married and my wife got pregnant on feb 2013. 2. I have stopped having sex with her and she went to her home town. 3. In August 1st 2013 (i got a new job), I met a girl, who desperately wanted to have sex with with me...I avoided to kiss her, neither to have sex with her...but allowed her to touch my gentile. I went on her top with my undies and her suit on (Rubbed each other).... and after getting down....I cummed in my undies...(May be it is a minimal risk)... 4. Post that I started getting lose motions, and kept on falling sick...after 3 moths I did a HIV spot test...and it was negative...But still i continued to have symptoms - cold cough, fever etc... 5. The new job has so much of stress.....(Doctor said I am suffering from work stress) 7. In the month of october, my wife delivered a baby girl all happy etc. and she continued to stay there. Her delivery was Caesarian. 6. In the same month of October - I met one more girl (Lopa)....we loved each other...she wanted to come close to me.. I told her to go and do a HIV test. She also did a Hiv spot...it was negative 7. But for safety purpose (May be she is in a window period). I never kissed her or had sex with her. 8. For safety I use keep a thick plastic under my undies (which use to cover my gentile)...so if she wants to ride on me....she can... but i have a safe guard on... 9. So she use to come on top of me with her pants on and rub each other etc...it was completely safe. 10. Then in the month of December (I fell sick agin). I had so much of work and I was unable to handle the pressure... 11. I use to continue work even when i was sick.. The fever and cold did not go for a month... I had a swollen lymph behind my ear. 12. I consulted a doctor. he said...it is because of cold...he asked to have some medicine. and they lymph is because of cold. For safety, I went for health check up and did a HIV rapid..it was negative. 13. Then I went to meet my wife in the end of december. No sex but I kissed her...after 7 days of that she started getting headaches. I came back after 3 days...and she still stayed in that place. 14. In the 1st week of February 2014. I and XXXXXXX got scared (As this may effect my baby). So we went for HIV Elisa test in Thyrocare for a confirmation... the reports were negative. The reports were 0.04 Od ratio for both. 15. Now in the end of February.... I have again got fever with cold (I continue to have) and seems like XXXXXXX has (But she go cured) we are confused... though we haven't done anything...even My baby is suffering in cold... this can be seasonal viral fever or stress or what....we are confused....and I don't want to do so many tests... and now should I go to my wife. Please answer me...I have not even a lost a kilo weight. I have been suffering from Thyroid since 3 years (Having medicine). Still having so much of stress, Insomniac...

Brief Answer: ?HIV Detailed Answer: Hello, Welcome to healthcare magic, I went through the detailed history. If the details of exposure are true, your chance of getting HIV is almost nil. So stop worrying about HIV, focus on your work and family. Be faithful to your wife. Severe stress can decrease your immunity and thus you will be predisposed to all sorts of infections like cold and gastro enteritis. Fear of having sexually transmitted diseases is called venereophobia and it is seen usually when a person has guilty feeling in the conscious or subconscious mind. This can cause insomnia. Relaxation exercises, yoga (Pranayam) will benefit you. You may also consult a psychologist for counselling if it does not get better. Take one capsule of Becosules Z daily after food. Eat a lot of citrus fruits rich in vitamin C for better immunity. Hope this helped, Take care.

Brief Answer: Clarification Detailed Answer: Hello XXXXXXX Welcome back. If she has had sexual contact only with you then the chance of her having HIV is also almost nil as the exposure described by you cannot transmit HIV. But as a professional I would say that the HIV test should be repeated after 6 months of last exposure to be sure. Hope I have answered your query. Take care.

Dear Sir, Thanks for your comment, But I did not have any sexual encounter with her (No unsafe sex at all). But I have a small doubt related (tried finding answer in Internet but couldn't) I did a Thyrocare Lab testing on 3-2-2014 The report as follows Test name ELISA Value - 0.04 Unit - OD Ratio Reference Range - Negative :<= 0.90, Equivocal : 0.91 - 1.10, Positive :>=1.11 Technology used: Solid phase capture Enzyme immunoassay Then I had a small doubt (As Thyrocare testing is only done in Mumbai). May there be an confusion so I re - checked here in Bhubaneswar in KIMS Medical on 08-03-14 The report as follows Department of Immunology Investigation - Anti - HIV Patient Value - 0.11 Method - ELISA Unit - OD Ratio Reference Range Cut - Off Value :- 0.20 Reactive :- >=0.20 Non Reactive :<0.20 IMPRESSION:- The given sample is non-reactive for anti-HIV So sir, two different kinds of reports and both are negative, values and reference range are different... The Thyrocare report says 0.04 and KIMS report says 0.11 (And they are negative) please help. The same reports are attached (Does the the value change in different laboratory) regards XXXXXXX

Brief Answer: HIV report Detailed Answer: Hello XXXXXXX Yes the values and reference range varies from lab to lab. Do not look at the numbers. As long as it is non reactive it is alright. Both the reports are normal. You need not repeat it again from another lab. Hope I have answered your query, Take care.
