Hemorrhagic ovarian cysts have good chance of spontaneous resolution. Very few need surgical removal. I cannot give you the exact percentages, as I do not have the statistics. If the cyst grows, fails to respond to conservative management or causes pain, surgical removal may be needed.

Pain relief can be had by using paracetamol or any of the NSAID s. If you do not find relief, please inform your consultant for further management. If the pain is severe, inform your consultant immediately. Do not lift heavy objects and abstain from intercourse, if you are sexually active, until you find relief.
