Do Uncontrollable Facial Grimaces Require Treatment?

Question: Occasionally I have facial grimaces, I know they are happening, while I can usually stop them. They bother me when they happen. Are they something I need to worry about?

They happen involuntarily. Don't believe they are related to stress. When I was 38 I had a stroke in which my right side face, arm and leg were affected as well as my speech.
The first time I was aware of the grimace was about 3 weeks after my emergency bowel surgery, when one happened while the surgeon was removing the metal stitches from my abdominal scar. That was in January 2008.

Thanks for the clarification. It seems that certain parts of the brain, that were damaged during the stroke, are rewiring. The connections cause the facial twitches or grimaces to occur. They are nothing that you need to be concerned about. However, in case you develop XXXXXXX seizures, be sure to seek medical attention at the earliest.
