default
Posted on Thu, 21 Jan 2016
Question: Had a c section delivery on 16th October and had been on/Off bleeding since then. The bleeding had reduced by 6 weeks with a respite of 1 week it was back. Now my doc has advised Promulit N-5mg for 21 days. I'm exclusively breast feeding my 2.5 months old doctor . following are my concerns :
1. Will promulit arrest the bleeding ? After taking for 21 days, with withdrawal bleeding when is the next period expected?
2. Will promulit affect milk supply & baby ? How can I maintain the milk supply?

Please advise.

Brief Answer:
Primolut N is ok. no effect on Breast feeding.

Detailed Answer:
Hi, Dr Purushottam Neurgaonkar here. I welcome you to HCM VIRTUAL CLINIC. I have gone through your question, and I think I have understood your concern. I will suggest you the best possible treatment options.
1) please do not worry.
2) Tab Primolut N is used to stop theppbleeding. You need to take 1 or 2 tablets as needed to stop the bleeding.
3) Usually after stopping the tablet course , withdrawal bleeding starts within 3 t poo 7 days. It is your menstrual cycle.
4) Usually Progesterone group of drugs , like Primolut N, do not have any negative impact on Breast milk secretion.
5) In case you feel that Breast milk is not sufficient for the baby, then I will suggest you to have plenty of fluids orally, also medicines like Reglan and Asparagus powder can be used.
I hope this answer helps you. Thanks
