Can I Start Excising While Trying To Concieve?

Question: Hello Doctor, We have been planning for a baby since 2 months. I have not been involved in any exercise and have gained weight meanwhile. My query to you is Can i start excising at this point of time? would it delay the process ? I am 30 yrs and would this mean more time for conception?

Brief Answer: Start exercising. Detailed Answer: Hi XXXXX Welcome to HCM. It is good that you are planning for a pregnancy.You really need to be fit and active.There is no harm in exercising and rather you should be having adequate weight for conceiving early. Overwt. or obesity is linked with so many problems before and during pregnancy.It may increase your insulin resistance and cause hormonal imbalance and may be related to PCOS. Eat right and exercise regularly and take care of your ovulation days for a successful trial. Also start taking Folic acid tablet in pre conception period. I will advise you to get your basic investigations done including Thyroid test to be aware of any cause of extra weight gain , so that it can be taken care of alongwith. So, doing all this will not delay, rather help in easy conceiving.There are so many exercises that you can continue during pregnancy also. Thanks.Anything else, happy to help.

Thank you so much Doctor, I have also been experiencing symptoms of periods on the 20th day, since 3 months. However end up getting my cycle on 27th or 28th day. I would definitely not be ovulating on the 20th day? this is worrying me Is this normal doctor?

Brief Answer: Ovulation is not occuring on 20th day Detailed Answer: Hi XXXXX Thanks for writing again. I think you are having cramp like pain on 20th day.This may be a symptom of PMS( pre menstrual syndrome) or may be Mittelschmerz pain that occurs in mid cycle as a result of ovulation. If you have a very regular cycle of 28 daysthen ovulation usually occurs fron 12th to 16th day. But if cycle is irregular then the day may be 20th and you have a short luteal phase and this is called Luteal phase defect.(LPD). Consult your dr. and get thorough investigations of both partners and she will advise you how to proceed .You can also use ovulation strips and test for ovulation at home. Thank you Dr. Kamalpreet XXXXXXX Lastly, Just a little apprehensive about foods as well that can help me in getting pregnant faster? I eat Guava,Oatmeal for breakfast, brown rice for lunch along with pomegranate. I also take Banana, red and yellow pepper twice a week with carrot as salad. I also take about 2 ounces of Almond and Walnuts along with a mug of lemon water everyday in the morning. Chickpea is part of my diet twice a week Drink about 2.2 lt of water. What other food can boost the process? Kindly advice!! Thanks & Regards, XXXXX

Brief Answer: Eat healthy and Balanced diet Detailed Answer: Hi XXXX regarding your diet you are following a good diet pattern. You must have heard this saying - Eat breakfast like Kings and dinner like Paupers. Take a healthy and balanced diet.There are so many diets and recipes available on net, but to be precised, I will not give you a lecture type advise. In general, try to take lot of organic fruits and vegetables , several servings in a day. Take more of citrus fruits and cruciferous vegetables. Stay away from processed foods.Don't take any frieds, bakery products and foods that contain lot of oil base and salt, like pickles. chutneys, namkeen mixtures as leisure time meal. You can take coloured fruits and vegetables which contain lot of lycopenes and beta carotene.,as good as we take anti-oxidant capsules from market. Pine XXXXXXX is considered to be very good , but don't make it in syrup.sugar and oil are two major culprits for weight gain. Yes, fish is a very-2 good diet. It contains lot of mono unsaturated fats, but take fish low in mercury , like Salmon,tuna,and all the more it should be baked fish. Avoid alcohol, smoking, and excess of coffee. Taking lot of water is really good.Along with healthy diet exercise is must. Stay cool and relaxed. Wish you all the very best. thanks.
