29'th Weeks of Pregnancy

29 week Pregnant
  • Congratulations! By pregnancy week 29 you are entering your third and final trimester! From here on your job and that of your baby will be to grow.

Changes in You
  • Your breasts may secrete colostrums, which can dampen your bra. The hormone prolactin secreted by your brain is responsible for this and also has a sedating effect, and you may feel the need to take naps the way you did in the first trimester. Also, you may need to take frequent trips to the bathroom as uterus exerts pressure on bladder. There are times however during the third trimester when a sudden weight gain may be cause for alarm. If for example, you gain several pounds within a couple of days, accompanied by high blood pressure, increased swelling of the hands and face and a terrible or debilitating headache, you may be at risk for pre-eclampsia.

Changes in Your Baby
  • What is my baby's size? Well, it's about 36 cm and he/she weighs nearly 1.3 Kg! isn't it fast growing.Your baby will now start producing a chemical which will be made into estriol (a form of estrogen) by the placenta. This estriol is thought to stimulate the production of prolactin by your body, and the prolactin makes you produce milk.Keep a close check on your baby from now on. Your baby's eyes and ears are now fully formed. And most importantly, the brain enlarges to receive more signals from the sensory organs.

Tips and Precautions
  • Follow antenatal visits regularly The third trimester is really a time to kick your baby-on-the-outside preparations into high gear: baby-proof the home or apartment, buy a car-seat, get a stroller, dress up the nursery and plan a space for diapering, keep mulling over possible names, and try to enjoy this time.Look for nutritional requirements during this period like protein, Iron, Folic acid and Calcium.Report to the Doctor during infections during PregnancyYou may already begin to lactate a little... invest in some cotton pads; it will save changing your T-shirt 3 times a day.Be vigilant for any regression in signs of pregnancy.Exercise regularly, keep up your swimming, walking, yoga, or other non-weight bearing exercise, though you're not feeling as energetic (and as comfortable) as you did in the last trimester.
