Hello dear GERD=gastro esophaageal reflux disease-caused by reflux of gastric contents back to esophagus due to poor tone of sphinctor.It is not a dangerous condition;but if uncontrolled for a longtime,can lead to esophageal cancer.But this can be well treated with drugs like PPIs.When this fails,surgery can be done. Avoid alcohol,smoking,spicy/oily items.Avoid food/drink 2hours before sleep.
