Hi, There is no cancer related risk when the polyp is said to be hyperplastic as it is just over grown normal tissue. I wish you well.

doctor1 MD

Hello, yes this type of polyp has a risk factor and that broadly depends on the site of polyp. Thanx.

doctor1 MD

Hi dear.Welcome and thanks for writing on HCM. Having one hyperplastic polyp does not mean that you may be at risk of many. There are harmless polyps too(benign).Histopathology gives a clear picture about the nature of polyp.Risk factors are race(african-american), obesity/lack of exercise, tobacco and alcohol, uncontrolled diabetes and family history.Hope this answers your query.Reply with thanks.
