It can be due to enlarged tonsils; swelling/growth or a foreign body in the back of the throat; post-Diphtheria complication; or, an uncommon condition- called, Achalasia cardia. Welcome, Probably you may have stricture oesophagus or barrett oesophagus or achalasia cardia. So better do an Upper GI endoscopy. Consult an Gastroenterologist. Hiccups are due to irritation of diaphragm. as nerves vagus and phrenic supplies the diaphragm, stomach and oesophagus. food irritation in stomach cause hiccup. Cough is most probably due to irritation of stagnant food particles in throat.
