5.8 mmol/litre is border line. At 6.0. most physician's will suggest a change in diet. Most like the number to be around 4.0 however if you are a cardiac risk patient, they want you down to 2.0 mmol/litre . Statin drugs like Crestor or Lipitor are usually prescribed to achieve that.
