my son has been vomiting and running a fever off and on for four days and also he has this cough that is back to back coughing I took him to the doctor she gave him something to keep from throwing up but its not helping and i got him something for a cough and fever but also not helping ...

As you mentioned that patient is having fever as well vomiting so how your son will take oral medicine .
When such patient visit to me with fever and cough with severe vomiting I first of all advise NOTHING by mouth ( no oral medicine ) and start intravenous Ringer lactate and electrolyte - M solution with antibiotics and sodium bicarbonate injection ( in drip ) .
Once fever & vomiting under control advise oral medicine according to symptoms.
Since these are prescription drugs so please consult a physician and get his opinion.
