Cataract Operation On The Right Eye At Very Young Age. High Sensitivity And Severe Pain. Grey Covering On Iris. Surgery?

I had a cataract operation on the right eye when i was 6 years old, however this left me blind in the RE and I therefore use the LE only. recently i experience very high sensitivity to light and a very painful eye, which also now has a grey covering on the iris that also makes me uncomfortable when looking at people in the eye. I am wondering if there is a surgical operation to resolve pain and sensitivity. I have used some eye drops for relief, but would not like to do this for the rest of my life. I am 38 years

Ophthalmologist 's  Response
Hello,
It seems from the history that you have underwent cataract surgery in childhood and now noticing a grey membrane iris is probably indicating inflammation and since vision is not there in the eye probably it is pupillary block glaucoma.
Treatment is available for this condition and the treatments depend on the status of the eye. These treatments are basically aimed at reducing the pain without contributing to improvement in vision. After these you can use cosmetic contact lenses for better appearance.
Please do consut your ophthalmologist he will be able to guide you regarding these after complete examination of the eye.
Thank you
