Will Thigh Numbness And Tingling Have Any Lasting Side Effects?

I am experiencing numbness and tingling in my left front thigh. I think it is from resting my iPad on my lap. Sometimes the back of the iPad will get quite warm. I probably have been using my iPad this way for over a year. Will this have any lasting effects on my thigh? I started to rest it on a book or some other surface now.

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,Thanks for your query. After going through your query I came to know that you may be having entrapment of lateral nerve of thigh as you have numbness in the area supplied by this nerve . It may be due to pressure over the nerve over iliac crest from where it comes outside from pelvis. It may be due to pressure of iPad. Mecobalamin will be helpful in recovery. Analgesic such as diclofenac can be of use to relieve pain.It does not have any lasting effect after recovery. You can discuss with your treating Doctor about it. I do hope that you have found something helpful. If you have additional questions or follow up queries then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your queries. Wishing you good health. Take care.
