Hi,

It is unlikely that the baby's failure to thrive is due to its father's drug dependence. However, if the mother has been using drugs, even if irregularly, that is a more likely cause. Poor nutrition, premature delivery, difficult delivery, stress during pregnancy etc can be possible causes. Infections and other illnesses can also slow down growth. I am sure doctors will be able to find a cause for the same and provide adequate treatment.

Best wishes.
