Will Taking Excedrin Help Cure Pain In Neck?

I cracked my neck accidentally for the first time and experienced severe pain directly afterwards. It severely hurts to turn my head from side to side or up and down. What can I do to stop the pain? I took Excedrin but that didn t help. I work as a nurses aide which requires a lot of physical movement and I work tomorrow. Is it necessary I see a doctor? Will I be okay to work? When will this pain stop?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Your symptoms seem to be related to a muscle strain in the neck. I suggest to do a neck X-ray ti exclude a fracture. Meanwhile, I suggest using anti inflammatory medications such as Excedrin. I also suggest using a splint to prevent further damage.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
