Hi I was prescribed 40mg of atorvastatin after an angiogram showed low level of plaque . I am 57 and a family history of heart problems . I was also prescribed 1.25mg Ramilo .. I am very fit and not overweight and have a healthy lifestyle . I have developed a tickly cough but don t know if it s coincidental. Hi,

Yes, dry cough is one of the important side effects of angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitor like Ramilo. You should stop taking this medication and take an alternate effective but a safer medication like Amlodipine for the control of BP.The most common side effects of Atorvastatin include myopathy (muscle pain, tenderness and weakness), stomach upset and liver dysfunction.Weight gain can occur with the use of cholesterol lowering pills like Ramipril because it an cause muscle pain and weakness, which may make you less likely to exercise or may be because it make you think you can eat as much as you like.

Consider losing by appropriate measures like reducing the intake of high caloric foods like fatty meals, fast and junk foods, increase the intake of vegetables and fruits, avoid alcohol, start doing regular exercise.

Hope the advice given above would be useful. Let me know if I can assist you further.
