Will Stress Cause Delay In Periods?

My last period was January 4th, and I have not yet got my period this month. My periods before last month all came around the 7th, but were extremely irregular before September (note: i took plan b in august) Since January 4th, i have only had sex twice, jan 16th and jan 26th. We used a condom both times and he did NOT finish either time, we had to stop in the middle of it! I am not on birth control. I believe that this missed (or potentially late) period is due to stress because i have had a lot of problems and stress this month including a break up, starting a new semester, etc. I also read that missed or late periods could have something to do with starting a new schedule, and i have been waking up a lot earlier this month for my classes. I also started exercising and going to the gym lately and have lost 2 pounds so could that have something to do with it also? Please tell me what you think!! I am scared to death that i may be pregnant. Please send some advice, and what you think

Hi,

Thanks for the query,
You seem to have a history irregular periods but are worried because of the sexual episode.
However, there is no need to worry as you have used condoms and also did not finish. So chances of getting pregnant are very low.

Still I suggest you get a pregnancy test done to ensure that the delay is not due to pregnancy and this will also help in decreasing a part of the stress.

Also, stress is not good for health. unfortunately the modern lifestyle is demanding and puts us in stressful situations. Exercising and gym also help to decrease stress. Relax when in the gym and listen to good music. Take some time off for yourself and the stress will decrease.

Hope I was able to help you.

Hi,
Well you had sex in unsafe period but used barrier contraceptive so chances of being pregnant is less.Having late periods is normal (due to stress also but usually relying stress )it may be delayed . Just do a Urine pregnany test to rule out any chance of pregnancy . Visit a gynecology clinic if u don't get menses.

Thanks n regards
