Will Steroid Injection Interfere With Synthroid And Cytomel Medication?

hi, my question is... I have had my thyroid removed and am now on Synthroid and Cytomel, my pain management dr is doing a cervical epideral for my DDD and stenosis, I need to know if the steroid injection will interfere with either of my medications? thank you

Hi,

Usually steroids have very little or no interaction with Synthroid or Cytomel. However, very heavy doses of glucocorticoids may reduce the conversion of active thyroxine T4 to more active Tri-iodothyronine T3, needing to increase in the doses of Synthroid or Cytomel.
