Hi,

Thank you for your query. I can understand your concern.
you are type 1 diabetic;hence must be on inj. insulin.
The safety of alpha lipoic acid in people with kidney disease is unknown.
There have been a few reports in Japan of a rare condition called insulin autoimmune syndrome in people using alpha lipoic acid. The condition causes hypoglycemia and antibodies directed against the body's own insulin without previous insulin therapy.
in view of this you are advised not to take alpha lipoic acid for your neurotic pain in the feet.
