Greetings. I am glad that i may be able to help your mother to overcome the discomfort.

Ear problems are often caused by an infection. However, other conditions may also cause ear pain or discomfort.

Some Questions for You:
She has fever.
then
1. Is she experiencing pain deep in the ear and/or fluid draining from the ear? If so she may be having middle ear infection - Require antibiotics.
2.Is she having redness and swelling of the outer ear and the surrounding skin?
if so her Outer ear,ear canal, & the skin around her ear may be seriously infected - It's Emergency.
3. Is she having a headache-type pain and redness behind your ear or tenderness when you touch the bone behind her ear? If so she may be having an infection of the bone behind the ear, or from an ENLARGED LYMPH NODE- It's Emergency.

4.Is she having thick pus-filled or bloody drainage from the ear canal that started after a sharp, sudden pain? If so she may have a ruptured her Tympanic membrane(Ear Drum) - Then Avoid infection by keeping her ear dry.

5. Is her ear swollen, and does it itch or hurt when you pull on herr ear or earlobe?
&

Many more problem like inner ear problem, blocked Eustachian tube, teeth problem etc., can be a reason. Can't explain more until we see you personally. Visit an ENT specialist.

Note:

Finally it's just a guidance. Not a definitive treatment as i haven't seen you personally. You've to realize that these are temporary remedies. We don't know what your exact condition is unless we see you personally.

Hope it helped you.
