Why Is My Wound Red, Tender And Warm To The Touch?

About three days ago I cut my knee while getting onto my couch, I cut in on the end of my cell phone charger. It wasn't a deep wound, but enough to cause bleeding. I didn't clean it right away, but I did the next morning. For the past day the wound is really red, tender and warm to the touch. Today I went into a chlorinated swimming pool. While in the pool a decent amount of yellow fluid was oozing out of my cut. Like I stated, the cut is not deep. I was assuming that the chlorine was probably cleaning out the infection, however now about 12 hours later the wound is still very red, tender and warm. Should I be concerned?

It sounds like you have an infection and that pus was leaking out of the wound when you were in the pool. The chlorine in the pool is not adequate to clean out the infection. At this point you need to be on antibiotics. If an abscess has developed, it will need to be opened and drained to get rid of all the infection. See your doctor and get it looked at right away. Infections can spread into the body and cause more serious problems if they're not treated. Hope this helps.

HI
Well come to HCM
This could be septic of wound, such condition means, inflammation and pus formation, now this may need antibiotic and NASID and the best option would be Ibuprofen 200 mg three times in day, take care ( Comment:- superficial or deep would should always be taken a care for infection )
