Why Is My Toenail Oozing Clear Liquid?

I ran a marathon on Saturday and noticed my big toenail was oozing clear liquid. I realized half of it was detached from the nailed so I removed that portion. The skin underneath has remained red and is still oozing. Is this normal? Should I go in to the doc? I also think I have toe fungus

Hello,
Thanks for the query,
You might have developed onychomycosis.
It is a fungal infection.
Your description matches with that.
Usually fungal infection of nail are chronic and recurrent.
Please get a KOH mount done,
This can confirm the fungal etiology.
Treatment can be with oral antifungals as well as with topical antifungals.
Treatment must be continued for at least 6 months to prevent recurrance.
Please meet a dermatologist for exact diagnosis.
