Why Is Proluton Depot Injection Given During Pregnancy?

Hi Doctor, Last year my wife had premature abortion of 24 weeks with unknown reason; this time we regularly check up with same Dr. Now my wife is 16 weeks pregnant and in her monthly check-up after her scan doctor has prescribed at this time Proluton Depot 250 mg injection weekly once. I want to know what would be the reason?? and is it safe for Baby and Mother?? or any side effects of that injection ?? Please guide me

1. Proluton Depot ( hydroxy progesterone caproate) is given in
. Amenorrhea
. Abnormal uterine bleeding
. Treatment of advanced inoperable endometrial carcinoma AND
. RECURRENT MISCARRIAGE (in history)

2. The drug is categorised under Category 'B' which means it is safe both to mother and child.

3. Physician may discontinue the drug:
. Sudden/gradual,partial or complete loss o vision
. Abnormal liver-kidney test or EKG
.
