Why Is Montek LC Prescribed For Cold And Cough In Children?

My child is 2 yrs old .. since last 3 months he is having frequent cold and cough each month , Dr. has prescribe Montek LC Kids for 6 weeks once at night . Plz suggest why this medication is given . We dont have any history of Allegy and asthma in our family

Hi, I'am Dr Suresh K Yadav MD (paediatrics), I had gone through your question and understand your concerns,


Montek LC kid is used for prophylaxis of allergic conditions . Chances of allergy is more if there is family history of allergy but absence of this does not exclude allergy. Reason for prescribing montec L C Kid is presumed allergy. So if there is sufficient reason for prescribing Montec LC Kid , it should be continued as it is safe drug to us on long term .

Montek is given for anti allergy. D most commonest cause for common cold is allergy. So for that reason u might b given montek kid. U should consult pulmonologist for d same...
